Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Class Size Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and student supervision in CPS schools. You will assist teachers, supervise students during meals and movement, and help with instructional materials under classroom supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma and ISBE paraprofessional licensure. Strong communication with students, families, and staff is essential in a busy school setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or G.E.D. equivalent).
• Valid ISBE paraprofessional license (60 college hours or paraprofessional exam such as Work Keys or ParaPro).
• Ability to work with and for school-aged children; follow instructions and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising students during lunchroom and playground activities.
• Provide security functions within the school, such as monitoring corridors and reviewing student ID cards.
• Assist students with understanding and completing classroom assignments.
• Assist teachers in preparing bulletin boards and displaying students' work in classrooms.
• Operate photocopying and duplicating machines to reproduce educational materials.
• Assist in maintaining the orderly arrangement of classrooms.
• Greet and direct visitors to appropriate areas of the school.
• Consult with teachers regarding concerns of individual students.
• Help supervise loading/unloading of students on school buses.
• Collect daily attendance reports and contact parents to verify absences.
