Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services seeks a CWS Case Manager – Investigations to perform timely initial investigations of abuse/neglect and coordinate safety plans. You will engage families, collaborate with law enforcement, and document case activity in the CAPSS system per policy. Ongoing training and certification are required.

The role emphasizes compassionate engagement, teamwork with a diverse network, and adherence to state guidelines for child welfare practice.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in any field with one year related experience.
• A Master’s Degree or higher may substitute for required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct timely initial investigations of reports of child abuse and neglect.
• Engage families and partners with empathy and respect to ensure safety and services.
• Develop safety plans and coordinate with law enforcement and legal when needed.
• Locate and engage absent parents, relatives, and kin to join the child and family team.
• Document case activities thoroughly in CAPSS per policy and timelines.
• Maintain child welfare certification with annual training.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work / Behavioral Science / Social Science

Bachelor's Degree + 1 year related experience

Master's Degree may substitute for required work experience
