Job summary

State of South Carolina’s CWS – Investigations in York County seeks a CWS Case Manager to conduct timely initial investigations of child abuse/neglect, engage families with empathy, and coordinate services to ensure safety and permanency. The role includes on-call duties and cross-agency collaboration with law enforcement and legal teams.

The position emphasizes thorough documentation, adherence to DSS policy, and participation in ongoing training and development within the FAST framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science required.
• Bachelor's Degree in any other field plus one year related experience acceptable.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Performs case management for child welfare investigations to ensure safety and well-being.
• Responds to intakes within time frames and conducts initial safety assessments using FAST.
• engages families and partners with empathy; coordinates with law enforcement and legal when needed.
• Identifies absent parents, relatives, and fictive kin to join the child welfare team.
• Documents recommended services on the Family Permanency Plan and maintains records.
