Job summary

The State of South Carolina’s Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Manager in Beaufort County to investigate child welfare concerns and coordinate services for children and families. You will work within the Investigations unit, ensuring safety and permanency through case planning and collaboration with partners.

Responsibilities include on-call duties, documentation, and engagement with families, law enforcement, and the legal system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science.
• Master's Degree may be preferred for some positions.
• Child Welfare experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial investigations of reports of child abuse and neglect and offers services to at-risk children and families.
• Manages a caseload of children and families to ensure safety, permanency and well-being.
• Engages families and partners with empathy and respect; responds to calls, emails, and texts.
• Locates and engages absent parents and relatives to support the child and family team.
• Recommends interventions and documents services on the Family Permanency Plan.
• Maintains case records and CAPSS documentation per policy and standards.
• Completes required child welfare certifications and annual training.
• Protects PII and safeguards agency systems and data.
• Performs Red Cross shelter or emergency shelter duties as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.
