Job summary

Lutheran Community Services NW (LCSNW) is a nonprofit serving Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. We seek an immigration program representative who counsels clients on immigration needs and completes family-based applications, maintaining precise case notes. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

  • Represent the immigration program and agency within the community and partner organizations.
  • Counsel clients with immigration needs and act as their legal representative.
  • Complete family-based immigration applications (Adjustment of Status, Naturalization, Family Reunification).
  • Maintain accurate files and detailed case notes.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

Please note that this position requires demonstrated fluency (written & spoken) in English and Spanish

  • Serve as a representative of the immigration program and agency within the community and relevant organizations.
  • Counsel clients with their immigration needs and serve as their legal representative.
  • Complete family-based immigration applications such as Adjustment of Status, Naturalization, and Family Reunification.
  • Maintainaccuratefilesand detailed case notes.
  • Complete continuing educationtomaintaincurrent knowledge of immigration policy and practice, andtomaintainDOJ accreditation.
  • Models, encouragesdirect, professional communication among staff members andfacilitatesthedevelopment of apositive staff support network.
  • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations he/she serves.

HOW YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT:

  • 1 year of related experience,specifically with Immigrationand the Department of Justice
  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • CredentialsDOJ accreditationmaybe required dependingon individual program or location requirements.
  • Demonstrated fluency in English, and Spanish, both spoken and written
  • Intermediate mastery of business applications and productivity suites
  • Demonstrates resilience, awareness and self-regulation in navigating challenges,conflictand obstacles/barriers.
  • Thrives in a diverse and multicultural environment; works with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies to enhance end-user experiences throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Demonstrates exceptional commitment to serving and advocating for diverse and marginalized populations
  • Successfully completes tasks in a moderately noisy environment
  • Interact with others and performs tasks in-person andthrough the use oftechnology, with moderate periods of stationary activity and moderate periods of increased physical activity
  • Moves equipment/materials weighing up to20pounds
  • Travels between worksites occasionally
  • Works in a variety of settings, including and not limited to LCSNW office locations, partner agency and community-based settings, client home/community settings, outdoor settings in varying weather conditions, and faith-based settings such as churches
  • Meets LCSNW criminal background clearance requirements and other job-relevant clearances as required by the State or program
