Job summary

Lutheran Community Services NW seeks qualified individuals to support immigration services, counsel clients, and prepare family-based immigration applications. The role requires fluency in English and Spanish and DOJ accreditation as applicable, with office-based duties and community outreach.

Qualifications

  • Requires fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • 1 year of related experience, specifically with Immigration and the Department of Justice.
  • DOJ accreditation may be required depending on program or location requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a representative of the immigration program and agency within the community and relevant organizations.
  • Counsel clients with their immigration needs and serve as their legal representative.
  • Complete family-based immigration applications such as Adjustment of Status, Naturalization, and Family Reunification.
  • Maintain an ongoing, organized client caseload and detailed case notes.
  • Complete continuing education to maintain DOJ accreditation and current knowledge of immigration policy.

  • Serve as a representative of the immigration program and agency within the community and relevant organizations.
  • Counsel clients with their immigration needs and serve as their legal representative.
  • Complete family-based immigration applications such as Adjustment of Status, Naturalization, and Family Reunification.
  • Maintain an ongoing, organized client caseload.
  • Maintain accurate files and detailed case notes.
  • Complete continuing education to maintain current knowledge of immigration policy and practice, and to maintain DOJ accreditation.
  • Models, encourages direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitates the development of a positive staff support network.
  • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations he/she serves.
HOW YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT:
  • 1 year of related experience, specifically with Immigration and the Department of Justice
  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Credentials DOJ accreditation may be required depending on individual program or location requirements.
  • Demonstrated fluency in English, and Spanish, both spoken and written
  • Intermediate mastery of business applications and productivity suites
  • Demonstrates resilience, awareness and self-regulation in navigating challenges, conflict and obstacles/barriers.
  • Thrives in a diverse and multicultural environment; works with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies to enhance end-user experiences throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Demonstrates exceptional commitment to serving and advocating for diverse and marginalized populations
  • Successfully completes tasks in a moderately noisy environment
  • Interact with others and performs tasks in-person and through the use of technology, with moderate periods of stationary activity and moderate periods of increased physical activity
  • Moves equipment/materials weighing up to 20 pounds
