A prominent law firm is seeking a USCIS Immigration Associate Attorney to join its growing immigration practice group in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for an attorney with 3-5 years of immigration law experience to work closely with experienced attorneys and legal staff, manage a diverse caseload, and further develop courtroom and client advocacy skills. This role offers significant professional growth potential within a collaborative, client-focused environment.
Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and Immigration Court testimony
Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
Manage and oversee a caseload of immigration matters independently
Conduct intakes and client visits at detention centers
Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
Review immigration filings and application packets, making necessary revisions
Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community-based organizations regarding immigration updates
Conduct strategic immigration consultations with prospective clients
Provide detailed legal analyses to determine case benefits and potential strategies
Prepare and submit legal briefs and supporting documents for various immigration matters
3-5 years of experience practicing immigration law
Strong background handling family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and USCIS applications
Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently and effectively
Collaborative mindset and ability to work closely with other attorneys and legal staff
Exceptional interpersonal, client communication, and organizational skills
Experience using case management software preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred, but not required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
Ability to develop strategic case plans and adapt to changing legal circumstances
High level of attention to detail and project management ability
Strong commitment to client service and professional excellence
Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to clients
