Job summary

InterMed, P.A. is seeking an Imaging Referrals Scheduler to manage precertification and scheduling of Imaging exams, coordinating care with outside facilities as needed. The role serves as a resource to all Imaging modalities and sites within InterMed.

The incumbent will handle patient education, eligibility screening, and coordination of appointments, while ensuring HIPAA compliance and accurate documentation across EMR systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior medical office experience preferred.
• Experience with EMR strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications and the ability to type while speaking with patients.
• Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
• Excellent professional judgement, attention to detail, phone skills, and decision-making ability.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Receives requests for imaging exams and acquire pre-certification if needed.
• Obtains pertinent medical history/medical necessity and compiles for Radiologist protocol review.
• Ensures orders are correct and communicates needed changes to clinical teams.
• Maintains knowledge of patient prep instructions based on imaging modality and exam ordered.
• Educates patients and family members with appropriate instruction.
• Screens patients for contraindications.
• Coordinates imaging appointments for outside InterMed facilities and follows up.
• Answers/triages incoming calls.
• Requests outside records when needed.
• Uses electronic systems and basic troubleshooting.
• Participates in onboarding of new team members.
• Maintains HIPAA confidentiality and InterMed policies.
• Performs other duties to support InterMed mission.
