Job summary

The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is recruiting for a Health Services Registered Nurse Manager to oversee multi-site medical operations and ensure compliance with clinical policies. This role reports to the Director of Health Services and involves coordinating with providers and partner agencies.

Ideal candidates will have RN licensure in Idaho or via a compact, supervisory experience, and some correctional health care exposure is preferred. Some travel is required.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Professional or Registered Nurse in Idaho or state licensure via the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Typically one year of supervisory experience including assigning, directing, and evaluating staff or equivalent management training.
• Experience assessing nursing practices for compliance with policies and procedures.

Summary:

IDOC is currently recruiting for a Management Services Division, Health Services Registered Nurse Manager and will report to the Director of Health Services. The Registered Nurse Manager oversees a comprehensive, multi‑site health care contract delivering medical services to residents in county jails and out‑of‑state correctional facilities. This role ensures high‑quality clinical operations, compliance, and effective coordination across providers and partner agencies. Some travel is required. Correctional health care experience is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensed as a Professional or Registered Nurse in Idaho as defined by Idaho Code 54-1408 or state licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact, Idaho Code 54-1418, in one of the following compact states: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Wisconsin.
• Good knowledge of supervisory practices. Typically gained from one year of supervisory experience that required providing work assignment, and direction and monitoring of staff with responsibility (or significant input) into the hiring of employees, preparing performance evaluations, and handling problem-solving procedures OR have completed courses or seminars (20 hours) that included all the essential elements of management.
• Experience assessing nursing practices for compliance with policies and procedures and recommending appropriate actions. Typically gained by approximately six months' experience in a supervisory role ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, licensure regulations, or care standards. This may include chart audits, data collection, policy and procedure review, committee participation, and/or infection control activities.
