Summary:

The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to create a model correctional system founded on the belief that people can change. IDOC is recruiting for a full-time Clinician to be filled at the North Idaho Correctional Institution (NICI) in Cottonwood, ID. Clinicians with the Idaho Department of Correction work inside correctional institutions/prisons and Probation and Parole District Offices around the state. The Clinician performs comprehensive mental health assessments, program assignments, and treatment referrals while developing individualized treatment plans and delivering therapeutic interventions. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external providers to ensure integrated care, present clinical findings, facilitate therapeutic groups, and evaluate treatment outcomes. Additional responsibilities include advocacy for residents’ mental health needs, and participation in research.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply clinical skills to assess resident mental health needs; develop and implement a treatment plan and therapeutic recommendations
  • Prepares findings, diagnostic impressions, diagnosis, and recommendations for Idaho Parole Board as directed/needed
  • Performs comprehensive suicide risk assessments, systematically evaluating residents for suicidal ideation and underlying mental health concerns
  • Designs, implements, and directs multifaceted clinical therapies and rehabilitation programs
  • Evaluates treatment effectiveness and outcomes
  • Provides emergency, crisis intervention, and after-hour on-call services
  • Advocates for IDOC residents’ mental health needs
  • Presents assessment results to multidisciplinary team; participates in treatment planning
  • Coordinates mental health services with other IDOC providers to ensure integrated and effective care
  • Coordinates program with other service providers within IDOC
  • Facilitates psychoeducational and process groups to IDOC residents
  • May participate in research projects
  • Other duties as assigned by overseeing clinical supervisor

Minimum Qualifications: Your resume needs to clearly articulate how your skills, education and experience meet the qualifications below –

  • A master's degree (or higher) in a direct clinical practice Human Services field is required for this position. (Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or very closely related field of study.)
  • Willing to work in a correctional facility and may include working non-traditional hours during evenings and or weekends.
Specialty Qualifications:
  • Must possess a current Idaho license as a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or be eligible within 90 days from the date of hire.
