Job summary

Advocate Aurora Health in Milwaukee is seeking a Full Time Nursing Assistant for the Critical Care ICU. Night shift 6:30 pm to 7:00 am, 36 hours per week, with rotating weekends and holidays.

You will assist the RN with daily patient care, document vitals, and support admissions, transfers, and discharges under supervision. Educational requirements include a GED/HSED or high school diploma and a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 45 days, along with a Nurse Aide in good standing.

• Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs, I&O, daily weights, and other patient data in EMR.
• Participates in admission, transfer and discharge processes under RN supervision.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties with proper technique and assistive devices.
• Performs nutrition-related tasks including tray setup/removal and diet selection under RN direction.
• Maintains infection prevention practices and proper disposal of contaminated materials.
• Coordinates tests and treatments with departments and maintains knowledge of scheduling and EHR systems.
• Facilitates communication with the health care team and screens calls and supports unit operations.
• Compiles chart forms for admissions, transfers and discharges and verifies patient information in the medical record.
• Establishes positive customer relations and supports a harmonious work environment.
