Job summary

Malta Communications Authority is seeking an Assistant Manager (ICT) to safeguard uptime of the MCA information system and coordinate ICT support personnel. You will liaise with third-party providers and assist management in delivering ICT services and projects.

The role requires a strong background in Windows Server, SharePoint, SQL Server, AD, and 365, plus familiarity with virtualization and cloud tech. English communications are essential, Maltese preferred; hybrid duties and procurement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or MIS with 6 years industry experience or Master's degree with 5 years experience.
• Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator or CompTIA certification will be considered an asset.
• Recent vendor-level certifications from Cisco, HP, IBM, etc. are assets.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, SharePoint and SQL Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
• Familiarity with virtualization and cloud technologies.
• General knowledge of networking technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal English; Maltese preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure availability, confidentiality and integrity of MCA ICT systems.
• Oversee IT function to minimize disruption of network, server and telephony administration.
• Troubleshoot system and network issues promptly.
• Maintain IS policies, infrastructure documentation and user guidelines.
• Design and implement a current IT/IS data strategy and policy for the MCA.
• Maintain an inventory of IT assets (hardware and software).
• Implement patch management and ensure systems are patched to industry levels.
• Maintain third-party agreements and supplier management.
• Provide feedback for system improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Drive ICT procurement including market analysis, tenders and adjudication.
• Ensure ICT systems are available to users with proactive monitoring.
• Manage website maintenance; represent MCA at local, European and international fora.
