Job description

The IT Manager – Infrastructure & Security will lead and actively participate in the design, maintenance, security, and daily support of the firm’s technology infrastructure. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing a small IT support team while remaining directly involved in technical troubleshooting, hardware deployment, networking, and cloud administration.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable planning technology strategy, working inside a server rack, deploying endpoints, managing Microsoft 365 security, and supporting employees across multiple offices.

This role works closely with all departments to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology operations while helping the firm adopt new tools and technologies.

Reports to Vice President of Operations.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
  • Supervise and mentor two desktop support technicians
  • Prioritize IT tickets, escalations, and infrastructure projects
  • Act as primary escalation point for complex technical issues
  • Coordinate with external vendors and software providers
Infrastructure & Systems
  • Hands-on network administration including switching, routing, VPNs, wireless, and rack equipment
  • Maintain servers, endpoints, printers, and VoIP systems
  • Manage device lifecycle including procurement, provisioning, and replacement
  • Maintain system documentation and asset inventories
  • Administer Microsoft 365 including Azure/Entra ID, SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, and endpoint management
  • Implement security best practices including MFA, conditional access, endpoint protection, and patching
  • Oversee backup, disaster recovery, and data integrity processes
  • Maintain software licensing compliance
End User Technology
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for Windows, macOS/iOS devices, and productivity platforms
  • Maintain conferencing systems, AV equipment, and collaboration tools
  • Support web hosting, DNS, domain registration, and related services
  • Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability and security
  • Assist departments in evaluating and implementing new technology solutions
  • Document procedures and maintain technical standards
Additional Responsibilities
  • Occasional after-hours maintenance
  • Occasional travel to remote offices
Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years progressive IT experience including networking, systems administration, and end-user support
  • Prior experience supervising technical staff preferred
  • Strong hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience (desktop deployment, networking equipment, server racks)
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365/Azure environments and security controls
  • Familiarity with VoIP systems, printers, conferencing equipment, and SaaS business applications
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while leading a small team
Preferred
  • Certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA Security+, or similar
  • Experience with Ubiquiti networking equipment
  • Experience supporting consulting, engineering, or professional services firms
