The position involves inspections of structures and utility connections, responding to inquiries from the public, and issuing stop-work orders when necessary.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of building terminology and codes.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints and specifications.
• Experience with documenting inspections and reporting.
• Experience with permit review and processing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections of structures during construction to ensure compliance with codes.
• Inspect utility connections and coordinate with contractors to rectify issues.
• Respond to inquiries and resolve public concerns while representing the City.
• Recommend revisions to ensure compliance and issue stop work orders as directed.
• Maintain records of inspections and prepare reports on violations for action.
• Review permit applications and conduct simple plan reviews under guidance.
• Calculate permit fees and issue permits.
• Maintain permit tracking systems and generate periodic reports.
• Collaborate with City departments to resolve violations.
