Job summary

The Pueblo of Sandia is seeking a Building Inspector to oversee construction projects and ensure compliance with local and national building codes, ordinances, zoning regulations, and contract specs. This role emphasizes integrity, collaboration, and performance excellence.

The Inspector will review plans, issue permits, conduct inspections, and maintain records, with occasional extended hours. A minimum five-year background in contracting or related fields is required, plus ICC-B2 certification

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED Certification or equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a contractor, engineer, architect, or as a superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Enforces the provisions of building codes and has the authority to render interpretations of the codes.
• Receives applications, reviews plan documents and issues permit for construction and alteration, demolition and moving of buildings and structures.
• Conducts inspections of the premises for which permits have been issued and enforces compliance with the provisions of the codes.
• Performs all required inspections and has the authority to accept reports of inspection by approved agencies or individuals.
• Secures such expert opinion as deemed necessary to report upon unusual technical issues that arise.
• Keeps official records of applications received, permits and certificates issued, fees collected, reports of inspections, and notices and orders issued.
• Inspects project for compliance with approved plans and specifications.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
