Job summary

Applicants should have five years in construction-related fields, applicable ICC inspector certification, and LSUCCC registration; strong communication and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five years of construction-related experience required.
• ICC certification as Inspector (Residential or Commercial) required by the City.
• Acquire and maintain LSUCCC registration.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections on residential and commercial projects under construction to verify code compliance and maintains daily records of inspection activities.
• Meets with contractors and homeowners to discuss code requirements when necessary.
• Responds to various complaints relative to dilapidated buildings and abandoned property.
• Performs necessary investigative action relative to product installation and structural performances.
• Issues notice of violation or summons to individuals who are allegedly violating building code requirements and prepares documentation, photographs, and other evidence for court action when violations are pursued for compliance.
• Responds to complaints on construction projects relative to plan discrepancies and other issues.
