Job summary

Jacobs invites engineering interns to work with our Water team on municipal and industrial water and wastewater projects. You’ll learn instrumentation, controls, and automation through hands-on tasks on real facilities, mentored by experienced engineers.

You will join a multidisciplinary group and contribute to project design, documentation, and field support while developing practical skills for a career in engineering.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
• Must be enrolled and returning to school after internship.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and modification of P&IDs.
• Support specification and selection of process instrumentation and field devices.
• Gain exposure to PLC- and SCADA-based control systems.
• Assist with control system architecture and industrial network designs.
• Prepare engineering calculations, reports, and design documents.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in design reviews, meetings, and field investigations.
• Assist with construction support, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Learn industry standards and quality processes.
