Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District invites applications for Engineer I–V (Instrument and Control) at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, NE. This role supports station engineers with trending, evaluation, and technical support to ensure safe and reliable operation.

The position may include Emergency Response duties and requires readiness to report within 45 minutes when activated. A progression under the Nuclear Engineering Career Path applies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program, or a Professional Engineering License.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to perform basic cost estimating and scheduling.
  • Technical writing and applied mathematics skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review operational data, internal investigation outcomes, and industry operating experience to identify issues related to I&C systems and initiate corrective actions.
  • Research and evaluate new instrumentation, controls, and digital technologies; utilize engineering drawings, technical software, design codes and standards, and applicable regulatory requirements in support of engineering tasks.
  • Develop or assist in developing I&C design requirements, engineering calculations, drawings, bills of material, installation specifications, and acceptance test criteria. Prepare Engineering Changes (ECs) to support plant modifications and maintain configuration control.
  • Perform trending and analysis of I&C system and component performance to support equipment reliability and maintenance planning.
  • Support or conduct Cyber Security digital evaluations and assessments for I&C digital assets to maintain compliance with the Cyber Security Rule.
  • Collaborate effectively with personnel at all levels, demonstrating strong teamwork, communication, and professional conduct.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
