Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a mid-level Electrical/Controls Engineer to join our Design Engineering team. You will evaluate and apply engineering techniques across major power projects, ensuring constructability and safety from early stages.

This role offers opportunities to mentor junior engineers, collaborate with cross-discipline teams, and contribute to client proposals and cost estimates across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE license preferred.
• Familiarity with control system programming concepts.
• Experience with SCADA systems and PLC; DCS experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria for projects of all sizes and levels of complexity.
• Incorporate contract and customer requirements to ensure projects meet goals.
• Contribute to client proposals and project cost estimates; lead cost and planning studies.
• Develop and apply understanding of design methods, codes, and Kiewit guidelines to prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Prepare technical specifications, perform bid evaluations, and coordinate with construction partners and suppliers.
• Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with project personnel.
• Mentor entry and mid-level engineers, guiding progress and results.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners to address electrical/I&C design concepts and concerns.
