Job summary

Shelter House, Inc. is seeking a Hypothermia Coordinator to support the temporary winter program in Leesburg, VA.

The role covers Saturday and Sunday 4pm-12am, helping to set up the program space, transport participants with a Shelter House vehicle, conduct orientations, distribute meals, and monitor safety and operations during the hypothermia season. You will record participant information, coordinate with case management resources, maintain logs, and ensure a respectful, clean, and safe

Responsibilities

• Monitor participant safety and maintain accurate counts.
• Enforce shelter guidelines and de-escalate conflicts.
• Report incidents and maintain participant dignity and confidentiality.
• Complete intakes, orientations, and required paperwork.
• Explain shelter guidelines and available services to participants.
• Distribute supplies and coordinate with case management resources.
• Prepare sleeping areas and manage bedding, laundry, and supplies.
• Transport participants safely and maintain vehicle cleanliness and logs.
• Maintain shelter logs and communicate updates to supervisors.
• Handoff shifts to ensure continuity of services.
