Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD invites graduates with a Bachelor's or Master's in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering to join the Vehicle Design and Technologies Group. You will help design and prototype advanced vehicles and weapons to meet national needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong communications and collaboration skills.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Predict and model aerodynamic characteristics for various air-vehicle configurations.
  • Perform multi‑fidelity analysis using CFD and thermal software across subsonic to hypersonic regimes.
  • Plan and execute ground tests and design models for wind tunnel and arcjet facilities.
  • Design future conceptual vehicles and perform multidisciplinary system analyses including launch integration.
  • Optimize hypersonic propulsion designs including inlet design and system integration.
