Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD, seeks a highly qualified aerospace and thermal engineering researcher to tackle defense-related challenges. The role focuses on aerospace & thermal engineering for rocket motor systems, including hypersonic flight and advanced propulsion.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Physics or Chemistry.
  • Expert in aerodynamics, thermo-fluid modeling, heat transfer, combustion.
  • Strong communication and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Eligible for Interim Secret clearance and eventual Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze thermal/aerothermal systems for rocket motors.
  • Perform CFD analyses and wind tunnel testing.
  • Develop software for physics-based modeling and sensor data.
  • Collaborate across groups to advance hypersonic propulsion projects.
