You will model aerodynamics, perform multi-fidelity analyses with CFD and thermal tools, plan wind tunnel tests, and help design future vehicles and propulsion systems for high-performance and strategic missions.

Qualifications

  • PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in aerodynamics, aerothermal, propulsion, thermal, or structural technologies.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain Interim Secret security clearance by start date and Secret clearance eventually.

Responsibilities

  • Model aerodynamic characteristics of air-vehicle configurations including hypersonic re-entry and UAVs.
  • Conduct multi-fidelity analysis using CFD and thermal software for aerothermal design across flow regimes.
  • Plan and execute wind tunnel and arcjet tests; validate predictions with post-test analysis.
  • Design future conceptual vehicles and perform multidisciplinary system analyses including launch integration.
  • Optimize hypersonic propulsion designs including inlet design and system integration.
