Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD invites interns to work on real-world aerospace and defense challenges, including hypersonic flight design. Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or Chemistry (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD).
  • Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for team projects.
  • Eligible for Interim Secret clearance with potential to obtain Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Join a hands-on, collaborative team of engineers and scientists on aerospace and defense challenges.
  • Gain experience in mechanical design, FEA, propulsion, and design optimization.
  • Work with experts to model physics-based problems using commercial and custom tools.
