Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD is seeking a candidate with a Bachelor's or Master's in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering to join the Vehicle Design and Technologies Group. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong communications and collaboration skills.
  • Must be eligible to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and eventual Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship).

Responsibilities

  • Predict and model aerodynamic characteristics of air-vehicle configurations (hypersonic, UAVs, rotorcraft).
  • Perform multi-fidelity analysis using CFD and thermal software across subsonic to hypersonic regimes.
  • Plan and execute ground tests; design models for wind tunnel and arcjet facilities; validate predictions.
  • Design future conceptual vehicles; conduct multidisciplinary system analyses and integration with launch platforms.
  • Optimize hypersonic propulsion designs including inlet design and system integration.
