Job summary

Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a talented Hypersonics Design Engineer to join its Hypersonics line of business. The selected candidate will support hypersonic development programs, contributing to advanced weapon system development efforts that are critical to maintaining U.S.

technological superiority in this rapidly evolving domain. Expect to design mechanical components, manage drawings and BOMs, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams through the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program with 2+ years of experience.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Creo/CATIA/AutoCAD/SolidWorks) and PLM environments.
• Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and basic tolerance analysis.
• Ability to communicate technical information and collaborate with teams.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for hypersonic vehicles.
• Create and maintain Technical Data Package artifacts (drawings, BOMs, specs).
• Manage interface control drawings and engineering documentation.
• Develop mechanical designs considering manufacturability and producibility.
• Apply GD&T and perform tolerance analyses to support design.
• Participate in design reviews and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Support prototype fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
