Job summary

Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a talented Hypersonics Design Engineer to join its Hypersonics line of business. The selected candidate will support hypersonic development programs and contribute to advanced weapon system design critical to maintaining U.S. technological superiority.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop mechanical designs, create TDP artifacts, perform GD&T and tolerance analyses, and participate in design reviews throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret security clearance.
• ABET-accredited engineering degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Creo, CATIA, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and PLM environments.
• GD&T knowledge per ASME Y14.5 and basic tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Understanding of drawings, specifications and configuration management processes.
• Fundamental mechanical design principles including statics, materials, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies for advanced hypersonic vehicles.
• Create and maintain Technical Data Package (TDP) artifacts including drawings, BOMs, and specs.
• Manage and maintain interface control drawings and associated engineering documentation.
• Develop mechanical designs with consideration for manufacturability, assembly, inspection, and producibility.
• Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 in drawings and standards.
• Perform tolerance analyses and engineering calculations to support design decisions.
• Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, and other technical meetings.
• Support material selection, manufacturing processes, finishes, fasteners for aerospace/defense apps.
• Assist prototype fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing with senior engineers.
