Job summary

Stratolaunch, based in Mojave, CA, seeks a Flight Test Engineer to lead flight test operations for Roc and Talon testbeds. You will direct the mission control room, coordinate with program management, and ensure safe, efficient test execution while developing procedures for complex air-launch missions.

You will bring a deep aerospace background, demonstrated leadership in developmental flight tests, and the ability to work irregular hours and travel as required.

Qualifications

• Technical aerospace experience
• Ability to analyze and prioritize tasks
• Ability to lead a small team and adapt to priorities
• Experience with new/experimental aircraft or launch vehicles
• Experience with engineering data analysis tools (IADS, MATLAB)
• Knowledge of risk or safety management systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Experience leading flight test programs
• Willingness to irregular hours and travel
• Ability to obtain a security clearance

Responsibilities

• Lead the mission control room team as a Test Conductor during flight tests of Roc aircraft and Talon testbeds.
• Serve as main liaison for the Mission Operations team with program management.
• Ensure safe and effective conduct of ground and flight test missions with engineering support.
• Develop deep system knowledge for rapid decision-making during tests.
• Lead flight readiness reviews prior to test plan execution.
• Coordinate range, airspace, and support resources for missions.
• Document procedures for expanded mission control operations and test missions.
• Support test strategy, objectives, and risk mitigation actions.
• Coordinate with vehicle engineering on data needs and safety concerns.
• Manage test-specific vehicle limitations and flight readiness actions.
• Coordinate vehicle test requirements with manufacturing schedules.
• Mentor junior engineers in flight test planning and execution.
• Assess readiness of mission control and support functions.
• Travel as needed for planning, meetings, and duties.
• Demonstrate integrity, accountability, and initiative.
