Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Cooling System Design Engineer in Junction City, OR to support the design, development, and delivery of cooling infrastructure for data center projects. This role will design efficient, reliable thermal management solutions for mission-critical environments and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet performance, energy efficiency, and scalability requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) preferred.
• 5+ years of HVAC, mission-critical facilities, or data center design experience.
• Experience performing HVAC load calculations and system sizing.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM platforms, and HVAC modelling tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for data center cooling systems.
• Design and optimize chilled water, direct expansion (DX), liquid cooling, air-side and water-side economization systems.
• Perform cooling load calculations and thermal analyses for white space, support spaces, and critical infrastructure areas.
• Develop HVAC system layouts, piping schematics, flow diagrams, and equipment specifications.
• Evaluate emerging cooling technologies, including direct-to-chip and immersion cooling solutions.
• Conduct system sizing calculations for chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, heat exchangers, and related equipment.
• Perform CFD analyses and support simulations to validate performance and energy efficiency.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards, and best practices; support procurement, construction, and commissioning.
