Job summary

Hoffman Hydronics is seeking a skilled Pump Build and Repair Technician to join our Atlanta team. You will assemble, test, diagnose, and repair hydronic pumps and related equipment in a shop setting, with occasional field support.

You will read pump curves, manufacturer specs, and drawings to guide work, and maintain records. The role requires 2+ years of relevant experience and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs while maintaining safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical HVAC/mechanical training preferred.
• 2+ years building, repairing, or maintaining pumps, motors, or rotating equipment.
• Ability to read pump curves, drawings, and manufacturer specifications.
• Experience with mechanical seals, bearings, couplings, and pump/motor alignment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform shop or field work.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, and test pumps and pump packages per specifications.
• Disassemble pumps for inspection and repair of seals, bearings, impellers, gaskets.
• Diagnose mechanical issues in centrifugal and submersible pumps.
• Replace and rebuild pump components like seals, bearings, couplings, motors.
• Perform pump and motor alignment to ensure proper operation.
• Conduct performance testing on rebuilt or assembled pumps before shipment.
• Read pump curves and drawings to guide build/repair work.
• Maintain accurate build records, repair logs, and parts usage.
• Operate hand/power tools and basic machining equipment as needed.
• Support field technicians with pump removal, installation, and start-up.
• Keep a clean, safe, and organized work area per safety standards.
• Communicate with manager and service/parts teams for timely turnaround.
• Assist with pump parts inventory management.
