Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) seeks an experienced Project Geologist to join the Hydrogeology Group within our Regional Geotechnical Services team. This role is designed for an early to mid-career professional (5–15 years) who can manage technical projects, budgets, and clients, with potential to advance to a Senior Geologist.

The position emphasizes 90% office work with 10% field activities, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to environmental investigations and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology or Hydrogeology.
• 5–15 years of experience in environmental consulting or related work.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, subsurface geology, hydrogeology, and environmental site assessment.
• Experience with field investigation techniques (drilling, sampling, logging).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor staff.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced consulting environment.
• Ability to interpret environmental data to achieve project objectives.
• Strong organizational and time management skills for multiple projects.
• Professional Geologist (PG) licensure or ability to obtain licensure.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to authorize driving record review.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert interpretation of analytical data to support hydrogeologic investigations and remediation projects.
• Lead geologic investigations including site reconnaissance, drilling oversight, sampling and field data collection.
• Interpret data to reach project objectives and assess environmental risk.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, maps and client/regulator presentations.
• Guide field methods and regulatory standards for data quality and compliance.
• Conduct groundwater and soil investigations and assist with monitoring programs.
• Oversee classification of soils and rocks and interpretation of subsurface conditions.
• Maintain project health and safety compliance.
