Oshkosh Corporation is offering a Mechanical Engineering Intern role in Oshkosh, WI. You will assist Engineers with mechanical engineering tasks within Design or R&D teams, helping to develop component and system designs, evaluate failure trends, perform failure analysis, and support vehicle component testing.

Responsibilities include drafting layouts in CATIA/CREO, selecting components for design quality, and following projects on the assembly floor.

Formación

• Interest in fluid power (hydrraulics and/or pneumatics).
• Student working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Willing to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI for the duration of the summer 2027 internship; summer housing is available to interns whose permanent address is >50 miles from work location.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare vehicle component layouts using CATIA, CREO, or other CAD software.
• Select components for quality conscious design (weight, cost, reliability, ease of manufacturing).
• Follow design projects on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build, and provide technical assistance.
• Generate engineering calculations for weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.
• Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to issues.
• Participate on supplier conversations and track action items like problem root cause identification.
• Perform or assist in the testing of vehicles or vehicle components.
• Develop and utilize mathematical reliability models.
• Analyze field warranty data and prototype test data for failure trends.
• Establish requirements for testing of vehicles and associated components.
• Create test plans, recommend resources of equipment necessary to accomplish the test, and formulate test project estimates.
• Conceive necessary fixtures and test apparatus and supervise their construction and implementation.
• Coordinate, supervise, and monitor testing, including data collection and analysis.
• Recommend corrective actions needed to maintain schedule and cost targets.
• Communicate status and results of tests to internal departments, suppliers, and customers.
