Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation, a leading maker of service vehicles, invites engineering interns to support design, production and testing activities at their Iowa facility. You will assist engineers with mechanical layouts, component selection, and on-floor prototyping for real-world vehicle projects.

The role emphasizes CATIA/Pro-E CAD, collaboration with suppliers, and hands-on testing of assemblies, with opportunities to contribute to bill of materials and change notices.

Qualifications

• Student working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field for entire duration of internship.
• Experience using CATIA, Pro-E or a similar CAD system is a plus.
• Previous internship experience or work-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle component layouts using CATIA.
• Select parts for weight, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot or production build and provide technical assistance.
• Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.
• Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.
• Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.
• Create and manage ECN’s using the PLM system.
• Design, model, and test new mechanical systems that integrate with a vehicle.
• Update bill of materials in the PDM system to reflect product changes.
