Job summary

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Pittsburgh is seeking a compassionate Caseworker to assist payment-challenged and special needs customers in obtaining social services through the CARES program. You will conduct home visits, attend community fairs, and coordinate referrals to SNAP, LIHEAP, Housing, and other resources.

The role requires an associate or bachelor’s in social services, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations.

Qualifications

• An associate degree or a bachelor’s degree in a social services or related field is required.
• Two years of client support experience preferred (internships count).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
• Experience with client databases is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to engage with diverse client populations and community agencies.
• Capability to conduct home visits as needed.
• Act 33/34 and LEIE clearances

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients in homes or locations to conduct assessments.
• Represent and promote CARES program at community events.
• Determine client eligibility for services and document findings.
• Provide internal and external referrals to social services.
• Maintain a network of providers and stay informed on offerings.
• Create service plans and assess progress toward goals.
• Schedule follow-ups to monitor referrals and outcomes.
• Complete required documentation accurately in the data system.
• Process applications for community resources (SNAP, LIHEAP, etc.)
• Respond to client inquiries regarding Duquesne Light CAP referrals
