Job summary

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Pittsburgh is seeking a compassionate Caseworker to help payment-challenged and special needs clients access social services through the CARES program. The role involves home visits, attending informational pop-up fairs, and coordinating services to support vulnerable populations in the Pittsburgh region.

You will document assessments, create service plans, and maintain provider networks, ensuring timely, accurate data entry and compliance with program standards.

Qualifications

• An associate or bachelor’s degree in a social services or related field is required.
• A minimum of two years of client support related experience preferred (internship counts).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
• Previous experience with client databases is preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to conduct home visits is required.
• Act 33/34 and LEIE clearances are required.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients in homes or other locations to conduct an assessment.
• Represent and promote the CARES program at community fairs and events.
• Determine client eligibility for relevant services.
• Provide internal and external referrals to social services for clients experiencing hardship.
• Maintain a network of providers and develop contacts at other local agencies.
• Create service plans and complete assessments to establish goals and needs.
• Schedule follow-ups to monitor progress and referrals.
• Complete documentation in the data system timely and accurately to ensure compliance.
• Document applications for community resources (e.g., SNAP, LIHEAP, Housing, etc.).
• Respond to client calls and correspondence to ensure high standard of communication.
