Job summary

Central New Mexico Community College seeks a Technical Support Technician to support faculty, staff, and students with computer and audio-visual systems. Responsibilities include rapid incident response, training, inventory checks, and proactive system tests.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in a related field and one year of related experience in the operation and/or maintenance of audio-visual equipment.
• High school diploma or GED with post-secondary education coursework in computer science, information technology or related field, and one year of related experience with customer service.
• Upon completion of an Associates Degree in MIS or a related field and three years of related experience, Technical Support Technician employees are reassigned to a Technical Support Specialist position.
• Preference: Audio-Visual or video production experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive assistance to faculty, staff, and presenters in technology-enhanced smart classrooms, ensuring rapid incident response, logging, and closure of requests.
• Operates and troubleshoots equipment including computers, display devices, control systems, network devices, and audio/video routing systems.
• Conducts regular inventory checks and recommends upgrades or purchases of new equipment.
• Tests and maintains support for systems to ensure functionality before use, adhering to SLAs.
• Uses remote support tools to address software and equipment issues in hybrid environments.
• Supports installation, implementation and maintenance of all audio-visual equipment and lab operations for a safe environment.
• Acts as liaison with Technical Support Specialists to resolve real-time issues and manage priorities.
• Assists students in reviewing course material and provides staff workshops for effective technical support.

Education

Associates Degree in a related field

High school diploma or GED with post-secondary coursework in computer science, information technology or related field
