Job summary
Selby Jennings seeks a Systems Support Engineer to support Linux-based development and testing environments used by a fast-paced electronic trading business in Chicago. You will work with engineering and operations teams to improve reliability and build monitoring, alerts, and automation for rapid issue identification.

Qualifications
- 2+ years of Linux systems or infrastructure experience.
- Strong networking fundamentals, ideally including multicast.
- Experience supporting distributed, high-availability systems.
- Scripting or programming experience with Python, Bash, Go, Java, or similar.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or messaging technologies.
- Experience with monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.
Responsibilities
- Support Linux-based development and UAT environments used by trading technology teams.
- Improve consistency and reliability across testing and production environments.
- Build monitoring, alerting, and automation to identify issues quickly.
- Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and prevent recurring problems.
- Automate operational workflows using Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages.
- Partner with developers, QA, release engineering, and production teams.
- Help maintain stable environments in a fast-moving, high-availability trading organization.
