Job summary

General Motors in Warren, Michigan is seeking a 2027 Summer Intern in Human Interface Design to help shape next-generation in-vehicle experiences and digital touchpoints. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to craft intuitive interfaces, create sketches and prototypes, and contribute to production-ready specifications.

Applicants should be pursuing a UX-related degree and be graduating between Dec 2027 and May 2029.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor's degree or advanced degree in UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Integrated Design, Design Science, Product Design, Fine Arts - Interaction/Interactive Design, Digital Media/Media Arts, Design & Technology, or a similar field.
• Must be graduating between December 2027 and May 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer months.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with team members and cross-functional teams to craft a premier user experience across products and platforms.
• Balance user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives to solve problems effectively.
• Develop production interaction designs following design guidelines.
• Create design deliverables to communicate your work, including sketches, drawings, mockups, animations, and prototypes.
• Release production specifications and assets to software engineering teams.
• Present work to peers and leadership.
• Work with product teams and engineers to execute user interface designs as a seamless part of the overall user experience, advocating aesthetics and visual design principles.
• Participate in design critiques to guide design decisions.
