Job summary

VHB's Virginia Transportation Systems team is seeking a Transportation Planner or Engineer - Project Manager to lead multimodal corridor studies, safety audits and operations analyses from Richmond to Tysons and Washington, DC. You will mentor junior staff and guide projects for public and private clients, balancing mobility gains with environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field.
• 11+ years of transportation planning/engineering experience (consulting preferred).
• Professional planning certification or PE (AICP) required.
• Experience leading teams/projects; supervisory experience preferred; Virginia clients required.

Responsibilities

• Lead multimodal transportation projects including corridor studies, safety audits, and operations analyses.
• Review technical traffic engineering work conducted by others.
• Perform and manage safety-focused planning efforts.
• Develop technical memoranda, reports, graphics, and presentations.
• Support the development of transportation policies and programs for Virginia communities.
• Lead public and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Manage tasks, budgets, and schedules for defined components of larger projects.
• Contribute to proposals, project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Serve as a task or discipline lead on multidisciplinary projects.
