Job summary

VHB is seeking a Senior Project Manager with extensive Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) design experience to join our Virginia team. This leadership role delivers complex transportation projects, providing technical oversight and supporting major Design-Build pursuits across the Commonwealth, including Richmond, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, and the DC metro area.

The candidate will mentor staff, lead multidisciplinary teams, and collaborate with clients to ensure successful project

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering required. M.S. preferred.
• Virginia PE license required.
• 11+ years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, with VDOT roadway design and interstate projects.
• Experience managing Design-Build projects in transportation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Manager and Technical Lead on VDOT design and interstate projects across Virginia.
• Support Design-Build pursuits and collaborate with contractor partners.
• Lead and grow VDOT design contracts and pursue new opportunities in I-81 corridor and beyond.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate cross-disciplinary design teams for timely delivery.
• Provide technical expertise in highway design, geometry, grading, drainage, and VDOT standards.
• Collaborate with VDOT, municipalities, contractors, and private clients.
• Support business development and strategic pursuits to win new work.
• Contribute to growth across Virginia markets: Richmond, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Metro DC, Tysons.
