Job summary

Leidos seeks a Senior Software Developer - Scrum Master to help build the L-CAP platform within a SAFe Agile context. You will split time between hands-on Java microservices development and Scrum Master responsibilities for an ART, contributing to architecture and secure, high-quality software delivery.

You will mentor engineers, participate in CI/CD practices, and collaborate across teams to meet PI objectives. Hybrid work arrangement applies with onsite preference in Gaithersburg, MD area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with 6+ years; Doctorate optional.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and reviewing production Java applications.
• 2+ years as a Scrum Master on a SAFe Agile team in a large-scale software environment.
• Experience designing microservices and RESTful APIs (JSON, XML, XSD).
• Significant experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Security.
• Experience with JUnit and Mockito.
• Experience with modern web front-end technologies (React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
• Significant experience with Linux and Git; experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust; US citizenship; background investigations required.

Responsibilities

• Approximately 50% hands-on software engineering: cloud-native microservices, design, develop, test, review, deploy, and maintain production-grade code.
• Approximately 50% Scrum Master responsibilities: facilitate ceremonies, remove impediments, drive continuous improvement, ensure predictable sprint outcomes.
• Guide SAFe cadence: PI planning, iteration planning, backlog refinement, system demos, inspect‑and‑adapt workshops.
• Track team metrics: velocity, PI progress, and communicate risks and dependencies to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Release Train Engineer, Product Owner, and cross‑functional teams to manage status and delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster collaboration across teams to ensure successful sprint execution and program delivery.
