Job summary

Leidos Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Developer - Scrum Master to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector, supporting the Leidos Common Automation Platform (L-CAP).

The role blends technical coding with Scrum Master duties in a SAFe environment, delivering cloud-native microservices and AI-assisted software development. The position is hybrid, requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days remote, with potential remote consideration for distance from Gaithersburg, MD; Eagan, MN; or

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of experience or Master's with 6+ years
• 5+ years designing, developing, testing, and reviewing production Java applications
• 2+ years serving as Scrum Master on a SAFe Agile team in a large-scale software environment
• Experience designing microservices and RESTful APIs with JSON/XML/XSD
• Significant experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Security
• Experience with unit testing using JUnit and Mockito
• Experience with modern web front-end technologies (React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
• Significant experience with Linux
• Significant experience with Git
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience with IDEs like IntelliJ/Eclipse/VS Code
• Understanding of sound software development principles; strong communication skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust; U.S. citizenship; background investigations as required

Responsibilities

• Approximately 50% hands-on software engineering: build cloud-native microservices and contribute to design decisions
• Approximately 50% Scrum Master responsibilities: facilitate ceremonies, remove impediments, drive continuous improvement
• Lead SAFe cadence: PI planning, iteration planning, backlog refinement, system demos, inspect‑and‑adapt workshops
• Track team metrics (velocity, PI progress) and communicate risks/dependencies
• Coordinate with Release Train Engineer, Product Owner, management, and stakeholders
• Manage cross-team/ART dependencies and resolve blockers
• Leverage DevSecOps practices and AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery
• Support integration with legacy air traffic systems and platform components
• Deploy, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in development/test/production
• Uphold code quality, automated testing, and peer review discipline
• Mentor junior engineers and foster collaboration across teams
