Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Sr. Paralegal for its Trial Division to support attorneys in all phases of litigation from inception through resolution.

The role emphasizes case management, discovery, deposition and expert coordination, and trial preparation within a civil litigation setting. Ideal candidates bring substantial litigation paralegal experience, knowledge of court procedures, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• Typically five years of experience in a paralegal capacity handling insurance-related litigation.
• Strong knowledge of court procedures, filing requirements, discovery practices, deposition scheduling, expert coordination, and trial preparation.
• Certification in paralegal studies strongly preferred and/or demonstrated insurance litigation related paralegal experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and case management databases such as Legal Files.

Responsibilities

• Provides pre-trial and trial support for litigated matters with varied complexity, including drafting and filing pleadings, motions and discovery.
• Coordinates and schedules depositions, hearings, and meetings; communicates with clients and expert witnesses.
• Supports trial team with document management, exhibits, binders, and court filings; maintains filing and follow-up systems.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to ethics and policy guidelines.
• Performs legal assistant and administrative duties as needed.
