Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a mechanical designer in Chicago to create 3D plant layout models and ensure integrated mechanical design across disciplines. You will design general arrangements, piping isometrics, supports, and equipment locations while collaborating with engineers and designers.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• 6+ years of detailed physical design in mechanical general arrangements, piping, and supports.
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout models and drafting tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical physical layout drawings in 3-D models as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Design mechanical systems, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate design deliverables.
• Generate schematics using 3D modeling software and prepare pipe isometrics and supports drawings.
• Mentor junior drafters and assist field data gathering with senior staff when needed.
