Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced mechanical designer for our Chicago-area team. This role is offered in a hybrid arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days each week.

You will develop mechanical layouts in 3-D, design mechanical systems, and coordinate the detailed phases of the integrated model. Requires an Associate's Degree in drafting or related experience and 10+ years in mechanical design, plus ability to mentor colleagues.

Qualifications

• We require an Associate's Degree in drafting, or equivalent technical experience.
• 10+ years of detailed physical design experience in mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.
• Proficiency with 3D plant layout modeling tools.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment outlines and interfaces and delivering related artifacts.
• Ability to work with engineering and design teams across disciplines in power plant design.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical physical layouts in a 3-D model with multidisciplinary teams.
• Design mechanical systems and troubleshoot related issues.
• Create schematics and coordinate detailed design phases for the model.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and support teammates.
• Conduct field walkdowns and collect data at client facilities.
