Job summary

CJ Logistics America is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to support corporate and field operations in Des Plaines, IL. The role focuses on compliance with federal, state, and local laws and fostering a respectful, inclusive work environment.

Reporting to the Director of Employee Relations and Compliance, you will investigate complaints, guide managers, update handbooks, monitor audits, and prepare ER analytics to reduce risk across CJLA's U.S. operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business or related field.
• 8+ years in HR with focus on employee relations and compliance.
• Deep knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws.
• Strong integrity, discretion and confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across levels.

Responsibilities

• Serve as main contact for employee relations, handling concerns and performance issues.
• Investigate complaints with objectivity and confidentiality.
• Provide guidance to HRBPs, managers and employees on performance and discipline.
• Apply and interpret company policies consistently.
• Support policy updates and handbook reviews for legal alignment.
• Monitor compliance with FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO and audit readiness.
• Document cases clearly and maintain confidential records.
• Prepare ER trend reports and risk analyses for leadership.
• Assist in training on compliance and respectful workplace behavior.
• Collaborate with Legal and HR on organizational changes.
