Job summary

Liberty Mutual seeks a Commercial Insurance Claims Representative in a hybrid role with in-person collaboration and remote work for focused tasks. You will review and process simple to straightforward commercial claims within authority and policy terms.

As part of a growing claims team, you will interact with insureds, agents, and internal customers, evaluate coverage, establish reserves, and negotiate settlements while maintaining thorough, compliant claim files and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years of claims handling experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and technology skills.
• Able to navigate multiple systems with strong organization and communication.

Responsibilities

• Investigates claims using internal and external resources, including talks with insureds and involved parties; analyzes reports and past claim activity.
• Extensive direct interaction with insureds, claimants, agents and internal customers.
• Determines policy coverage through investigation data and policy terms; notifies agents and insured.
• Establishes claim reserve requirements and adjusts during processing.
• Determines and negotiates settlements within assigned authority limits.
• Writes simple to moderately complex property damage estimates or reviews auto damage estimates.
• Takes statements as needed and collaborates with Field Appraisal, Subrogation and SIU as appropriate.
• Maintains accurate claim files and diaries per guidelines and expectations.
• Alerts Unit Leader to potential fraud or subrogation issues.
