Job summary

The South Dakota Office of Emergency Management seeks a regional coordinator in the Response branch to support local jurisdictions during emergencies. You will evaluate situations, determine state response, coordinate with state and volunteer agencies, and assist with jurisdictional recovery and infrastructure restoration.

The role involves field deployments, providing information and technical advice on programs, and ensuring compliance with preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or combined experience of at least 5 years preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work with limited supervision in field and office.
• Willingness to deploy away from home up to a week.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies immediately after an incident and guide local jurisdictions.
• Coordinate response and recovery activities with state and volunteer agencies.
• Monitor grant requirements related to Local Emergency Management Performance Grant.
