The State of Colorado is seeking an experienced professional for the Emergency Preparedness and Communications Specialist V role within the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of professional experience in emergency management planning and response operations.
  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of professional experience in emergency management planning and response operations.
  • Master's degree and two (2) years of professional experience in emergency management planning and response operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct recurring, in-depth on-site visits with assigned jurisdictions to oversee emergency management, mitigation, grants monitoring, and plan development.
  • Plan and implement regional forums for strategic, long-term, and contingency planning.
  • Provide technical assistance for all-hazard events to mitigate impacts on infrastructure, government services, and public safety.
  • Coordinate response activities across all levels of personnel and neighboring jurisdictions.
  • Maintain 24/7 situational awareness of area incidents and serve as duty officer when required.
  • When designated as the Field Incident Coordinating Officer (FICO), extend the authority of the Director of the Office of Emergency Management.
