Job summary

Town of Fort Myers Beach in Florida is seeking a Reception / Utility Billing Specialist to join the Finance team. This hybrid role blends front-desk customer service with detailed utility billing tasks, ensuring accurate information and courteous service to residents and visitors at Town Hall.

You will greet customers, process payments, update accounts, and support monthly billing cycles while upholding internal controls.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service or administrative support, preferably in a government or utility setting.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with billing processes and basic accounting concepts.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and manage front desk activities to support Town Hall operations.
• Process utility bill payments in person, by phone, and online while ensuring accuracy.
• Maintain and update utility customer accounts and billing data.
• Review accounts for discrepancies and resolve customer inquiries or escalate as needed.
• Assist in preparing and quality-checking monthly utility billing cycles.
• Balance daily receipts and support cash handling procedures.
